Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Cups

Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Cups using the Universal Waite Tarot Deck.  This card depicts a hand holding a cup and reaching out from the clouds.  Water is flowing from the cup, and there is a dove flying into the cup and holding a circular object with an equal-armed cross on it.

The Ace of Cups tells us that the world functions not only by its laws and structures, but also by a spiritual basis that gives meaning to the world, and protects it from corruption.  If we look at the world as something that must be conquered, chaos will follow.  Love and life cannot be seized and controlled, only accepted.  The Ace of Cups reminds us that love, not power, rules our lives.

Similar to the Holy Grail, the Ace of Cups symbolizes a spiritual love and the realization that we are connected to something larger than ourselves. Also this card indicates that something new and joyful may be coming -- new love, new opportunities, a spiritual awakening.
